Measure
A Collar Place the rule against the collar
pad and measure to the inside of the rim of the throat as
illustrated. For size of draft, draw a tape line around
the collar at its heaviest part, as illustrated.
Fit
A Work Collar It does not matter how well a
horse collar is made if it is not properly fitted to the
horse. A bad fit will hurt the horse. Therefore,
it is necessary to use the greatest care in selecting the
proper size and shape of the collar.
This
illustration shows how a work collar should be fitted.
If care is taken in fitting the collar and adjusting the
hames so hame tug comes over the center of draft (see A),
you have eliminated all trouble of sore necks and shoulders -
the horse will work with ease and comfort. More work horses
are ruined by work collars fitted too large than from any
other cause.
When fitting a collar there should
not be any more space between the horses neck and throat of
the collar than will allow your fingers, when laid flat on the
inside of the throat of collar, to pass through freely (see
B).
NOTE:The above instruction does not necessarily apply to
horses wearing Show Collars.Horses wearing Show Collars are in them for a
relatively short time and under different pulling
circumstances.
Measure
And Care For Your Blankets
To
measure for a Showtime blanket: using a flexible tape start at the
center of the horses' chest (see A) and measure around the part
of the hoses' shoulder along the barrel and to the center of
the tail (see B). Keep the tape horizontal to the
ground. Showtime brand blankets require adding 6
inches to that measurement. For example: If you
measure your horse to be 90 inches then you will need to
order a size 96 blanket.
To clean your Showtime blanket, fasten the leg straps and Velcro
belly band fasteners before washing. Wash in lukewarm or
cold water using a mild detergent. Do not dry clean.
Hang up to dry. If using a dryer, do not dry on high
heat and only dry for 5 minutes - then allow to air dry.
